A Women A Warrior By H. A. Tepha

Those who stay strong during hardships and survive under pressure are true warriors. Despite all the hurdles in her life, Serena Williams, the tennis queen, survived well and became a warrior. She revolutionized women’s tennis with her powerful style of play and won 23 Grand Slam singles titles, the most by any player in the open era and the second most of all times. Let me begin this poem, “A Woman, A Warrior,” with her beautiful quote, I really think a champion is defined not by their wins, but by how they can recover when they fall,” said Serena Williams. Let’s now dive into the poem “A Woman, A Warrior.

Please note: In the poem, the writer symbolizes the word “game” to life.

A woman, a warrior
Quite honestly, I must say
When woman rise
The tribe rise

She fell badly yet got up
Not the fall, but the comeback speaks
Who has faced turmoil & tohubohu
Becomes as strong as a warrior

Getting up to face again isn’t easy
Becoming a warrior isn’t easy
Those played the game well
They must’ve survived well

To take it back
To hold it back
The rule of the game
She has learned all that

Know who you are
Learn rules of the game
Set healthy boundaries
Follow the rules & start to play

Do best, leave the rest to deity
Honestly, if you do so
Embrace serenity
Enjoy the ease

I must say
To survive, to heal, to thrive
A woman, a warrior
Must’ve placed tawakkul on God Almighty
